Faith over fear.

Ephesians 2:8-10

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2003. Together, we have four amazing children, by birth and adoption. When I am not homeschooling my favorite students, I spend my days on our 7-acre property where I try my best to love my family well and experiment with hobby homesteading. My favorite things to do are cultivate my ever-expanding gardens, wrangle chickens, ferment all the things, sourdough bake with einkorn flour, and figure out new ways to use herbal remedies and essential oils. I believe God has tasked us to be good stewards of our spaces in the world, and I guide my children to do the same.

I am a board member of The Sparrow Fund and an Empowered to Connect Facilitator. I love to dig in the dirt, cook nourishing food, capture beauty through my camera lens, watch the sunrise on the beach, and spend time with good literature on my porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

The Power of 9 Habits

The concept of Blue Zones isn’t new to me, but I admit that I didn’t know much about it until a recent IIN lecture from the creator and founder, Dan Buettner.  Have you heard of the concept?  It’s pretty fascinating! Eating for yourself

There is so much conflicting nutrition advice available today, isn’t there?  This can make it virtually impossible to wade through the vast sea of never-ending options.  Many programs tout the healthiest way of eating, but oftentimes they are vastly different from each other.  For example: The government’s published standards include a 144-page document that tells...

Lifestyle is Medicine

I listened to a fascinating lecture by Dr. David Katz during my Integrative Nutrition studies this week.  He boldly claims that a few lifestyle changes could practically eradicate most of the chronic diseases from which Americans currently suffer.  Dr. Katz’s lecture was incredibly convicting for me personally. As a person who has experienced the freedom...

The Natural Hydrator

Drinking plenty of water wasn’t something I always made a high priority. I knew it was healthy, but I didn’t feel like my busy lifestyle lent itself to multiple potty breaks all day long.  I made excuses about why I couldn’t drink more water, but I knew I wasn’t functioning at my best living constantly...
