Functional Labs Coming 2027!

Ya’ll, I’ve been working on a little (big) something that I am so excited to finally share! In June, I began my journey to become a certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P) and am scheduled to graduate April 2027! This next chapter feels so profoundly aligned with my passion for wholistic wellness, as it will build on my health coaching certification and herbal education in a deeper and more data-driven way. It’s the missing piece to all of my wellness education that will equip me to meaningfully support clients to optimize their health. This certification and protocol would have been SO valuable in addressing the hidden physiological imbalances that led to my recent personal eczema/TSW journey and I cannot wait to use it to support others to better navigate their own wellness journeys.
What makes FDN unique?
FDN stands out in the functional health space because it offers a completely different way of thinking about how to optimize health. Practitioners counsel clients to support wellness without treating specific symptoms or diagnoses. We work as health detectives, using assessments and comprehensive functional lab screenings to uncover the hidden stressors and contributors to imbalances in the body that are often missed by conventional medicine. There’s no guessing or trial and error about what “might” be helpful. Practitioners investigate and dig deep into hormones, gut health, digestion, sleep, detox pathways, nervous system function, immune health, and chronic stress so we can identify healing opportunities and reveal the pathway to nurture and restore health.
Each functional lab screening offers additional insight about how the body is functioning and what it is trying to communicate, allowing practitioners to design a truly personalized approach to health. Instead of guessing, data guides the wellness journey. Using natural, health-building protocols, we rebuild vital reserve to nurture the body’s innate healing capacity. FDN-Ps empower clients to reclaim their own health with wholistic food and lifestyle protocols that maintain longterm wellness with balance and resiliency.
The best part?
The FDN process works no matter a client’s situation or personal circumstances because it optimizes overall wellness. The process is a step-by-step, proven method of success and it has guided thousands of people to improve how they feel. Diagnoses and symptoms are not treated specifically, but clients see results because underlying imbalances are addressed through the patented D.R.E.S.S. protocol:
- Diet: Personalized nutrition strategies balanced for your metabolic type and personal food intolerances (yes, that’s screened too!), including macronutrient ratios and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, essential fatty acids, trace elements, phytonutrients)
- Rest: Optimized sleep patterns with good sleep hygiene routines that allow the body and brain to rebuild, repair, restore, and detoxify
- Exercise: Movement that supports the body by stimulating oxygenation, circulation, elimination of toxins, muscles toning, flexibility, and cardiopulmonary exertion
- Stress Reduction: Identification and elimination of mental, physical, and biochemical stressors, especially the hidden ones that are only uncovered through functional labs
- Supplementation: Targeted support based on lab results that support, stimulate, and substitute as needed to fill gaps in food sources
Is this a medical service?
No! FDN-Ps do not practice medicine! We do not treat, diagnose, or prescribe. We are highly-trained functional practitioners who investigate, identify healing opportunities, educate, and make wellness recommendations based on our non-medical assessments of client questionnaires and functional lab results. Clients come to us when they want to optimize their health instead of bandaiding their symptoms. We offer wellness guidance with real data so we can discern what is actually going on in the body, instead of guessing or playing the “sounds like” trial-and-error game. We get to see the full picture so protocols are precisely targeted to help clients feel better and enjoy longterm wellness with balance and resiliency. Being an FDN-P is truly a dream job for me – God is so, so good!

I’ll be taking clients once I graduate FDN next April, and my prayer is to hit the ground running! Although I will be certified to work with all types of clients and would be truly delighted to work with all people, I will be focusing my functional practice on children who have ADHD, Autism, and other neurodevelopmental disorders. They hold a special place in my heart and I have a deep appreciation for the challenges their parents face. I have also seen firsthand how general wholistic food and lifestyle strategies can improve behaviors, cognition, and emotional regulation, so insight from functional labs will make the positive results even stronger!
FDN is unique because it offers a physiological approach to supporting children who are neurodivergent. By identifying and naturally mitigating hidden contributing imbalances within the body, children’s vital reserve inherently increases to make more room for flexibility and resiliency. The functional framework meaningfully complements conventional therapies and medical interventions because it supports clients wholistically to promote a higher quality of life. Functional labs can reveal hidden:
- inflammation markers,
- gut imbalances,
- nutrient deficiencies,
- toxin overloads,
- immune system irregularities,
- metabolic dysfunction,
- circadian rhythm + hormone patterns,
- environmental triggers,
- food sensitivities,
- and more.
I’ll be using natural, health-building, wholistic strategies to support clients so they can lead healthier, happier, more fulfulling, more resilient lives. I’d be honored to work with you specifically or walk alongside your family in the journey to support your child wholistically – please reach out to set up a time to chat with the link below!
