Chasing truth, beauty, goodness, and all things naturally wholistic.

Faith over fear.

Ephesians 2:8-10

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2003. Together, we have four amazing children, by birth and adoption. When I am not teaching fine arts to my favorite upper school students at our incredible classical Christian school, I spend my days on our 7-acre property where I try my best to love my family well and experiment with hobby homesteading. My favorite things to do are cultivate my ever-expanding gardens, wrangle chickens, ferment all the things, sourdough bake with einkorn flour, and figure out new ways to use essential oils. I believe God has tasked us to be good stewards of our spaces in the world, and I guide my children to do the same.

I am a board member of The Sparrow Fund and an Empowered to Connect Facilitator. I love to dig in the dirt, cook nourishing food, capture beauty through my camera lens, watch the sunrise on the beach, and spend time with good literature on my porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

Nourishing Grocery Delivery Options

I don’t know how many U.S. states have currently issued official shelter in place directives, but I do know that Maryland is one of them.  I would never, ever have predicted that I’d live through an experience like a pandemic.  How wild!

With our state’s Covid-19 peak not predicted to hit until May 1st, I’m considering taking advantage of grocery delivery.  I really do enjoy the experience of going to the store and choosing my produce and perusing the aisles (plus it gives me a hot sec to have some alone time), but I am completely incentivized to not leave my safe, sweet little piece of the world.  For the sake of myself and my kiddos.  InstaCart is probably the most well known option, which I’m sure I will use, but I’m sharing about some other alternatives that deliver nourishing, healthy food as well.

I have personal experience with a few of these companies, but not all.  Based on my research though, they are all companies that I feel good about supporting to feed my own family, so I’m passing them along.  It’s obviously not an exhaustive list – so if you love another company, please let me know!

Butcher Box | 100% grass-fed, humanely-raised meat, delivered to your door.  They are unfortunately currently on a wait list due to the increased volume of orders, but it’s worth getting on the list for when they open up to new members again.

Farm Box Direct | Organic and natural produce delivery.  Fresh, delicious, fruits, veggies and more delivered to the continental United States.

Farm Foods Market | Offering nourishing flavorful meats, from the farm, just like it once was.

FarmersBox | Providing the highest quality 100% pasture-raised, grain-free beef, chicken, and pork to customers throughout the United States and Canada.

Grand View Farm | My favorite local farm, offering better-than-organic grass-fed beef, pork, pastured chicken, and eggs for delivery to MD, PA, NJ, DE, VA, DC.  I love everything this local farm stands for – so if you’re near me, I 100% recommend supporting them first.

Green Chef | Delivering organic ingredients and easy recipes to cook incredible meals.  Because we’re a larger family, an option like this wouldn’t be very economical, but it seems perfect for couples or smaller families.  And I love the organic label.

Hungry Harvest | With a mission of eliminating waste and ending hunger, they deliver subscription boxes loaded with rescued fruits and veggies.

Hungry Root | Handpicked, thoughtful lineup of trusted brands and products.  Delivered groceries and recipes to help you eat well—and feel great—every day.  Same concept as Green Chef, so it’s not one that would fit my family’s situation, but it looks like a fantastic company to try.

Imperfect Foods | Offering imperfect (yet delicious) produce, affordable pantry items, and quality eggs and dairy, delivered conveniently to customers’ doorsteps.  Offering up to a 30% discount compared to grocery store prices.

Kettle & Fire | Delicious bone broths and soups that support skin, joint, and gut health.  I make my own bone broth, but this company is very well-respected for purchasing ready-made.

Misfits Market | Subscription box of sometimes funny-looking fruits and vegetables making it easy and affordable to eat healthy. Organic produce delivered directly to you for up to 40% less than grocery store prices.

Safeway | I know you know this one already.  But they have a lovely line of organic products and they offer delivery and pickup options.

Sun Basket | Clean meals delivered to your doorstep for you to cook at home.  Again, another option that would likely be too expensive for my larger family, but it looks awesome if you’re feeding less people.

Thrive Market | Offering 25-50% off retail prices on organic, non-GMO, and sustainable products.  I love Thrive and make regular orders from them.

Wild Alaskan Company | A monthly seafood membership that delivers sustainably-sourced wild-caught seafood to your doorstep.

Obviously delivery times are likely longer for most companies, given the current crisis our country is facing.  But with a little planning, these are (or seem like) some terrific companies to support.
