Chasing truth, beauty, goodness, and all things naturally wholistic.

Faith over fear.

Ephesians 2:8-10

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2003. Together, we have four amazing children, by birth and adoption. When I am not teaching fine arts to my favorite upper school students at our incredible classical Christian school, I spend my days on our 7-acre property where I try my best to love my family well and experiment with hobby homesteading. My favorite things to do are cultivate my ever-expanding gardens, wrangle chickens, ferment all the things, sourdough bake with einkorn flour, and figure out new ways to use essential oils. I believe God has tasked us to be good stewards of our spaces in the world, and I guide my children to do the same.

I am a board member of The Sparrow Fund and an Empowered to Connect Facilitator. I love to dig in the dirt, cook nourishing food, capture beauty through my camera lens, watch the sunrise on the beach, and spend time with good literature on my porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

Our ‘Chillax’ Roller

I am never without my ‘Chillax’ blend of essential oils. In fact, it’s actually my most favorite roller. I’d bathe in it, if I had time to take baths. It smells so good and it has such a serene, calming effect.  These oils are a must for our family!

Let’s break them down individually:

Vetiver has a fragrance that is grounding, calming, and stabilizing.

Cedarwood has a calming effect.

Lavender has a calming, relaxing, and balancing fragrance.

I love to add this combination of oils into a roller.  They smell so good together!  And with the school year just around the corner, I’ve made sure to have rollers filled up and tucked away in backpacks.  I add 20 drops of lavender, and 10 drops each of vetiver and cedarwood.  Then I fill up the rest of the roller with V-6 oil, but any carrier oil will do the trick!  I have several of these rollers tucked away in all the places so we’re never without.

This combination is so much my favorite that I’ve even made up a blend for my diffuser to use at night with the same 2:1 ratio.  I start diffusing as I’m working on my nightly skincare routine so my bedroom is filled with all of the fragrant goodness of these three oils.
