Chasing truth, beauty, goodness, and all things naturally wholistic.

Faith over fear.

Ephesians 2:8-10

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2003. Together, we have four amazing children, by birth and adoption. When I am not teaching fine arts to my favorite upper school students at our incredible classical Christian school, I spend my days on our 7-acre property where I try my best to love my family well and experiment with hobby homesteading. My favorite things to do are cultivate my ever-expanding gardens, wrangle chickens, ferment all the things, sourdough bake with einkorn flour, and figure out new ways to use essential oils. I believe God has tasked us to be good stewards of our spaces in the world, and I guide my children to do the same.

I am a board member of The Sparrow Fund and an Empowered to Connect Facilitator. I love to dig in the dirt, cook nourishing food, capture beauty through my camera lens, watch the sunrise on the beach, and spend time with good literature on my porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

My Favorite Thieves Household Cleaner

As the days get cooler and germs become more abundant, the Young Living Thieves Household Cleaner is a product that I am making sure I am never without!  It has replaced literally every single one of my cleaners.  (Click HERE for some great cleaner recipes.)

As someone who has been interested in “green” cleaning products before it was a thing, I can’t begin to count the numerous ways that this product makes my life easier.

Once upon a time, more than 10 years ago when I only had one baby, I couldn’t find many nontoxic cleaning products in stores.  It was a true DIY situation using lots of vinegar and baking soda.  In fact, the first book I ever purchased about how to clean without chemicals, titled Organic Housekeeping, is pretty much outdated at this point.

Many people thought I was nuts (minus my husband, he’s always support me!), but I stuck with the effort to clean our home without chemicals.  Eventually companies started producing their versions of nontoxic cleaners and my life became easier.  Unfortunately though, I didn’t realize for a long time that the fragrance ingredients found in most of those cleaners were still introducing toxins into our home.  And when I finally did figure it out, I had four kids, whom I homeschooled, and frankly didn’t have time to do lots of research to find truly nontoxic options.  So I stuck with what I had for a long time.

And then I joined the awesome world of Young Living and found out about all the benefits of essential oils, including natural cleaning.  What was even better, I found out about the Young Living Thieves Household Cleaner, which uses the superpowers of essential oils.  Winner, winner!

It offers exceptional cleaning with the power of Thieves (blend of lemon, cinnamon, clove, rosemary, eucalyptus radiata and lemon essential oils).  This cleaner is naturally derived and has plant-based ingredients for a safer way to clean and purify my home.  I love that I can use this product anywhere with the peace of mind that I’m not using harsh chemicals in our home.

It is a multipurpose solution for virtually any surface in the home or office.  It can be used on many surfaces, including fabrics, upholstery, carpet, floors, walls,
dishes, and more.  The concentrated formula works hard at spot-cleaning carpets, degreasing kitchen surfaces, and everything in between.

And because it’s so incredibly concentrated, each spray bottle that I make up costs less than $1.70.  That makes it cheaper than most commercial cleaning products!  And of course, it’s safer to use with the Thieves essential oil blend, which was inspired by the story of four 15th-century spice merchants who formulated and wore a special concoction of clove, rosemary, and other herbs while they were robbing bodies during the plague. French authorities recognized that there was such protective value in this mixture that upon the thieves’ capture, they received a more merciful punishment on the condition that they divulge the ingredients in their secret formula.  The story is actually found in the English archives under Marseille Vinegar – you can look it up if you’re a nerd like me!

A great way to get started with ditching those harmful household products and switching to cleaner, safer Thieves products is with the Thieves Premium Starter kit – it’s a perfect way to enjoy all the benefits of being a Young Living member whiles swapping out all of your harsh chemical cleaners at the same time.

The Thieves blend is so powerful that Young Living offers a whole line of Thieves products.  Our family uses just about all of them in our home.   They have replaced so many harsh chemicals, creating a safer environment that we can feel good about.  Especially now that the weather is getting cooler, we’ve been diffusing Thieves essential oil like crazy, in addition to rolling our Thieves Wellness blend to help our bodies fight off all the germy ick.  It’s truly one of the most versatile essential oils that Young Living offers!
