Faith over fear.

Ephesians 2:8-10

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2003. Together, we have four amazing children, by birth and adoption. When I am not homeschooling my favorite students, I spend my days on our 7-acre property where I try my best to love my family well and experiment with hobby homesteading. My favorite things to do are cultivate my ever-expanding gardens, wrangle chickens, ferment all the things, sourdough bake with einkorn flour, and figure out new ways to use herbs and essential oils. I believe God has tasked us to be good stewards of our spaces in the world, and I guide my children to do the same.

I am a board member of The Sparrow Fund and an Empowered to Connect Facilitator. I love to dig in the dirt, cook nourishing food, capture beauty through my camera lens, watch the sunrise on the beach, and spend time with good literature on my porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

Family Day

I finally got to wrap my arms around our sweet boy.  Oh what an amazing feeling.  He is precious, amazing, wonderful, and so stinkin’ brave.  I just adore him.  He is absolutely perfect in every way possible.  SO many answered prayers.  God is so good.

We actually walked in with him so we got to lay our eyes on him as soon as we stepped into the Civil Affairs office.  But apparently paperwork is more important, so he was quickly ushered into the playroom and we weren’t allowed to be with him.  In the long run, I actually think this was good because I got all of my crying out before we officially met him.  I had my wits about me and was better able to take care of him I think.

Our little guy was so incredibly brave, I’m just in awe of how much the Father has wrapped His arms around our precious boy.  Not that I ever doubted … but wow, He is just so good!  His grace was totally covering this day!  Dumpling did get upset a bit, especially when the nanny (or assistant director?) came over to answer questions about food.  But he let me comfort him, and for that I am so grateful!

We finished out the day with a low-key evening in the hotel apartment and even saw his first smiles.  He is just the most precious little person and I am so honored to have the privilege to be his mama!  The other three children have embraced him completely too and it’s such a beautiful thing to witness.  Oh be still my heart!  So. Much. Goodness. Today.

When we put him to bed, we laid him down in the middle of us.  I got to watch his beautiful little eyes close and drift off to sleep, and then felt his little body next to me all night long.  I admit I didn’t sleep much because I found myself staring at him through the night.  After waiting for so long, he’s here.  With our family.  All of us together.  I’m in awe!
