Chasing truth, beauty, goodness, and all things naturally wholistic.

Faith over fear.

Ephesians 2:8-10

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2003. Together, we have four amazing children, by birth and adoption. When I am not homeschooling my favorite students, I spend my days on our 7-acre property where I try my best to love my family well and experiment with hobby homesteading. My favorite things to do are cultivate my ever-expanding gardens, wrangle chickens, ferment all the things, sourdough bake with einkorn flour, and figure out new ways to use herbal remedies and essential oils. I believe God has tasked us to be good stewards of our spaces in the world, and I guide my children to do the same.

I am a board member of The Sparrow Fund and an Empowered to Connect Facilitator. I love to dig in the dirt, cook nourishing food, capture beauty through my camera lens, watch the sunrise on the beach, and spend time with good literature on my porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

It’s Official!

This precious soul is officially one of us!  Today we finalized his adoption at the Guangdong Civil Affairs office!  Hallelujah!  We started the day low-key with some snuggles, FaceTime, breakfast, and a first bath (sorry a few of the shots are out of focus – should have changed the f-stop).  He is opening up to us more and more and has the sweetest disposition.  He looks up at me and just smiles, talk about melting a mama’s heart!  He is doing great with me and his baba, but is still a little reserved with his siblings.  I am so amazed at how easy he’s been able to transition into our family – it just feels like he’s one of us.  Angel said earlier, “He is such a blessing to our family!”  He is a true joy!  He seems to be very laid back and easy going, and is willing to go with the flow.  He’s eating and drinking well, and beginning to talk a little in Cantonese.  We don’t know what he’s saying (of course it figures we are studying Mandarin!), but he sure is cute.  He’s most comfortable in our hotel apartment, which you’ll be able to see in the pictures.  I know that we still have a long journey ahead of us, but oh my, what a gracious way to start!
