Faith over fear.

Ephesians 2:8-10

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2003. Together, we have four amazing children, by birth and adoption. When I am not homeschooling my favorite students, I spend my days on our 7-acre property where I try my best to love my family well and experiment with hobby homesteading. My favorite things to do are cultivate my ever-expanding gardens, wrangle chickens, ferment all the things, sourdough bake with einkorn flour, and figure out new ways to use herbs and essential oils. I believe God has tasked us to be good stewards of our spaces in the world, and I guide my children to do the same.

I am a board member of The Sparrow Fund and an Empowered to Connect Facilitator. I love to dig in the dirt, cook nourishing food, capture beauty through my camera lens, watch the sunrise on the beach, and spend time with good literature on my porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

We’re snuggled inside while chugging along on our schoolwork, watching all of...

My farmer buddy

He’s my sidekick when it comes to gardening.  I can always count on him to help me whenever needed.  He enjoys digging in the dirt, planting seeds, and harvesting all the new veggies and fruits.  He’s a boy after my own heart! Today, we did something new.  We started seeds inside!  We planted peppers, lettuce,...

The new focal point

When we first toured our house with our real estate agent back in October 2015, one of the things that seemed obvious to me was that it was missing a fireplace.  I loved so much about the property, but we had had a fireplace for a long time and were used to the ambience (and...

Vegetarian Dumplings

Today marks the beginning of Chinese New Year 2018!  The Year of the Dog! As I shared in my last post, our 2018 Chinese New Year celebrations are taking a simple is just right approach.  But that will definitely include making dumplings for our Chinese meal.  Chinese jiǎozi are the quintessential food of Spring Festival. ...
