When we first toured our house with our real estate agent back in October 2015, one of the things that seemed obvious to me was that it was missing a fireplace. I loved so much about the property, but we had had a fireplace for a long time and were used to the ambience (and heat) it provided. Plus, it just seemed like there was no focal point on the main level.
While we were visiting the house, I made some visual plans in my mind of what it might look like to replace the window (that used to be here) with a fireplace. DH and I both agreed that we wanted to add one at some point, but obviously not right away.
Last summer, we made plans for this addition, deciding to go with a wood pellet stove. I knew I wanted to incorporate a traditional brick surround with a classic look, and some #shiplap. Because #givemealltheshiplap and everything #fixerupper. And as much as I love the look of artwork above the mantel, we knew the TV needed to be there. Part of me wishes I could share pictures of a perfectly-decorated space with no electronics. But this is a multi-functional space. And it’s the real world where the TV is in the main living area.
We chose a fabulous company to turn our vision into a reality. They transformed this wall into everything I hoped it would be – a bright, airy, cozy focal point with a farmhouse feel. Working with them was a wonderful experience – if you are local and looking for a company to do work for you, please send me a message. I’ll give you a glowing review for a terrific company!
We have been using the pellet stove since Thanksgiving and I can’t begin to explain how much we adore it. I mean, we adore it. It has completely transformed our main living space. It’s so cozy and awesome and simply wonderful. It provides exactly the farmhouse feel I wanted. And, of course, it has the added bonus of cutting our heating bill significantly. This project was exactly what our space needed and I am thrilled with the result!
