Faith over fear.

Ephesians 2:8-10

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2003. Together, we have four amazing children, by birth and adoption. When I am not teaching fine arts to my favorite upper school students at our incredible classical Christian school, I spend my days on our 7-acre property where I try my best to love my family well and experiment with hobby homesteading. My favorite things to do are cultivate my ever-expanding gardens, wrangle chickens, ferment all the things, sourdough bake with einkorn flour, and figure out new ways to use essential oils. I believe God has tasked us to be good stewards of our spaces in the world, and I guide my children to do the same.

I am a board member of The Sparrow Fund and an Empowered to Connect Facilitator. I love to dig in the dirt, cook nourishing food, capture beauty through my camera lens, watch the sunrise on the beach, and spend time with good literature on my porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

End of the CC year ceremony

I can’t believe it, but we just had our Classical Conversations end-of-the-year ceremony!  It was a great event and all of the children got to share a little of what they’ve learned.  Angel’s class presented John 1:1-7 in Latin, Lovebug’s class presented the Preamble, and Sunshine’s class presented Week 2’s sentence about the Pilgrims.  I was so proud of all three of them and all the hard work that’s gone into this year.  It was awesome to hear all of the children recite a snippet of what they’ve memorized.  It’s not easy to remember Bible verses in Latin or the Preamble, as well as many of the other facts they were responsible for this year.  But all of the children rocked it!  I was especially proud to see Sunshine up on the stage with her class – this was the first year she went without me.  And lemmetellya, tears welled up in my eyes seeing her sing the song with her classmates!  Oh it was a very special moment!

After the ceremony, we had a small cookie reception where I ran after my children trying to snap pictures with their tutors.  I took so few pictures this year, I figured I could at least get these.  All of their tutors have such special places in my heart.  From Irina who invited her class to her house for tea parties, to Becky who was always willing to be silly with the children, to Cassandra who really helped Sunshine blossom this school year … I am so grateful to all of these amazing women for helping my children grow and investing time in them.

My mom was able to join us on Saturday, so I also snapped a few pictures of her with my children.  These kinds of pictures are so special to me.  I didn’t know that the last few I took of my Daddy with the children would be the last, so I treasure whatever I can get with everyone!
