Chasing truth, beauty, goodness, and all things naturally wholistic.

Faith over fear.

Ephesians 2:8-10

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2003. Together, we have four amazing children, by birth and adoption. When I am not homeschooling my favorite students, I spend my days on our 7-acre property where I try my best to love my family well and experiment with hobby homesteading. My favorite things to do are cultivate my ever-expanding gardens, wrangle chickens, ferment all the things, sourdough bake with einkorn flour, and figure out new ways to use herbal remedies and essential oils. I believe God has tasked us to be good stewards of our spaces in the world, and I guide my children to do the same.

I am a board member of The Sparrow Fund and an Empowered to Connect Facilitator. I love to dig in the dirt, cook nourishing food, capture beauty through my camera lens, watch the sunrise on the beach, and spend time with good literature on my porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

Oils 101 | Peppermint Vitality

Fresh, nostalgic, and instantly recognizable, Peppermint’s scent invigorates the mind and senses, while inspiring a sense of peace.  It is one of the oldest and most highly regarded medicinal herbs for supporting normal digestion, including promoting healthy intestinal function and gastrointestinal system comfort.  It’s a must-have oil with a huge variety of uses!

Used topically, Peppermint oil creates a cool, tingling sensation on the skin, making it a favorite for sports massage.

It is also a key ingredient found in the Young Living blend, DiGize, and my DIY Natural Bug Spray!

Ways to use Peppermint Vitality:

➕Add to herbal tea or coffee, by first mixing with liquid stevia, for a delicious treat, and to help support your digestive system

➕Add a drop in a glass of water (again, mixed in liquid stevia first) after meals and you may find that it helps with the comfort and efficiency of your digestive system, as well as promotes healthy bowel function (plus, the minty smell and taste just might freshen your breath after a big, garlicky meal)

➕Add Peppermint Vitality to baked goods or even hot cocoa

➕Add 3-5 drops of Peppermint Vitality to your brownie recipe for a refreshing treat

➕Add Peppermint Vitality to homemade ice cream for a minty twist

Ways to use Peppermint:

➕Diffuse for clarity, concentration, and focus, or diffuse with compatible scents such as Lavender, Rosemary, Spearmint or Sage

➕When your day is dragging through a workout, class, or day at work, enjoy some Peppermint oil benefits by applying to your head and neck with a carrier oil – the refreshing aroma will give you a boost of positivity

➕Add 1-2 drops on a cotton ball and place in car vents to freshen the air

➕Add 1-2 drops on a cotton ball and place in a ziplock baggie to have available for someone who gets carsick – have them open the bag and breathe deeply during long car rides

➕Open the bottle and take several deep sniffs to help you breathe easier

➕Add 1-2 drops, mixed with a carrier oil, to tension areas on the neck and shoulders

➕Add 1-2 drops, mixed with a carrier oil, to the back of the neck for an instant cool down after gardening in the heat or a sweaty workout

➕Apply 2-3 drops, mixed with a carrier oil, over the tummy when you’ve eaten a bit too much

➕Add a drop to your shampoo for an invigorating morning routine that will awaken your senses

➕Create a Peppermint Spray to help keep pests away:

  • Mix 30 drops of Peppermint oil in 1 tbsp of Witch Hazel
  • Add to 16oz glass spray bottle
  • Fill the rest of the bottle with water
  • Shake to mix well

➕Make a Clean & Healthy Head Spray:

  • 2 oz glass spray bottle
  • 5 drops Peppermint Oil
  • 5 drops Geranium Oil
  • 5 drops Lavender oil
  • 5 drops Tea Tree oil
  • dash of Witch Hazel
  • Fill with Water

Tip: The witch hazel helps the oils to mix in with the water instead of them laying on top.

A few things to keep in mind about this oil:

It is a hot oil, please keep it away from your eyes – it will burn!  Follow the dilution directions on the bottle with a carrier oil.  Likewise, don’t consume Peppermint Vitality neat, always add it to a carrier.

It has been known to decrease milk supply in a few nursing mamas.  Use sparingly if you are breastfeeding.
