Chasing truth, beauty, goodness, and all things naturally wholistic.

Faith over fear.

Ephesians 2:8-10

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2003. Together, we have four amazing children, by birth and adoption. When I am not homeschooling my favorite students, I spend my days on our 7-acre property where I try my best to love my family well and experiment with hobby homesteading. My favorite things to do are cultivate my ever-expanding gardens, wrangle chickens, ferment all the things, sourdough bake with einkorn flour, and figure out new ways to use herbs and essential oils. I believe God has tasked us to be good stewards of our spaces in the world, and I guide my children to do the same.

I am a board member of The Sparrow Fund and an Empowered to Connect Facilitator. I love to dig in the dirt, cook nourishing food, capture beauty through my camera lens, watch the sunrise on the beach, and spend time with good literature on my porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

Oil-Infused Detox Bath

You probably already know that our bodies are subjected to a never-ending array of toxic soup given our modern environments. Even if we do our best to avoid chemicals, it’s impossible to completely eliminate toxins from our lives, especially thanks to modern agricultural and manufacturing practices, as well as EMF exposure. The repeated onslaught to our bodies comes from many places, including:

Thankfully, our bodies are naturally and wonderfully designed to remove and metabolize dangerous toxins (the Lymphatic System is an often-overlooked unsung hero!). However, its capacity is not endless. From time to time, we can all use some support when toxins build up in our system. A detox bath can do just the trick!

Benefits include:

  • Boosting your health and overall well-being
  • Strengthening your immune system
  • Preventing diseases
  • Improving sleep and concentration
  • Helping muscles function properly
  • Improving skin quality
  • Flushing toxins
  • Improving nutrient absorption

Plus, baths are super relaxing and calming. We could all use some more of that type of self care in our lives!

I am not very good at doing detox bathes regularly. However, my youngest guy has been feeling under the weather recently, so I pulled out all the stops to support his healing. The pediatrician’s office wouldn’t even see him in person (what world do we live in right now?!?), so we weren’t quite sure what he was battling. I threw all of my natural wellness and immune support tools at him to promote recovery. That included lots and lots of detox baths. Thankfully, he is on the mend without requiring a round of the good gut bacteria-killing reinforcements.

How to do a Detox Bath:

Use between 2-4 cups of Epsom Salts per bath – 4 cups is better. That may seem like a lot, but it’s the way to go. Epsom Salts (mine are flakes) are made of magnesium, a mineral that is great for sleep and required for many bodily processes. It’s also an excellent detoxifier.

Before dumping the Epsom Salts in the bath, add essential oils of your choice to the salt. Some great ones to consider are Evergreen Essence or Pine, Geranium, Lemon, RC, Thieves, and Eucalyptus. Always add your oils to the Epsom Salts and not directly to your bath water. You don’t want to risk burning your sensitive parts.

Next, relax in the bath for about 40 minutes and let the detoxifiers do their job!
