Faith over fear.

Ephesians 2:8-10

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2003. Together, we have four amazing children, by birth and adoption. When I am not teaching fine arts to my favorite upper school students at our incredible classical Christian school, I spend my days on our 7-acre property where I try my best to love my family well and experiment with hobby homesteading. My favorite things to do are cultivate my ever-expanding gardens, wrangle chickens, ferment all the things, sourdough bake with einkorn flour, and figure out new ways to use essential oils. I believe God has tasked us to be good stewards of our spaces in the world, and I guide my children to do the same.

I am a board member of The Sparrow Fund and an Empowered to Connect Facilitator. I love to dig in the dirt, cook nourishing food, capture beauty through my camera lens, watch the sunrise on the beach, and spend time with good literature on my porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

Thoughts after a month of Ritual

Advertisements for the Ritual multivitamin have been popping up everywhere for me.  Facebook, Instagram, Google … everywhere.  After seeing the name over and over again, I finally caved and clicked on the link to read what it was all about.  I look at any supplement with a discerning eye because there’s so much crap out there, so I was skeptical at first.  Especially with supplementation being a multi-billion dollar industry, it’s critical that we trust the products we’re putting into our bodies.

Happily, I was immediately intrigued and even impressed after poking around the Ritual website.  Transparency about why the ingredients are chosen and how they are sourced goes a long way for me.  I was also drawn to the fact that the folate is methylated.  Because I recently discovered I have a MTHFR mutation (along with 40% of the female population), that’s a concern for me.

I liked that Ritual didn’t include a lot of fillers or extra vitamins.  In fact, the nine essential nutrients that are included are in bio-available forms and chosen specifically based on research regarding what most women are missing in their diet.

Ritual only contains:

  1. methylated Folate
  2. Omega-3
  3. methylated Vitamin B12
  4. Vitamin D3
  5. Iron
  6. Vitamin K2
  7. Boron
  8. Vitamin E
  9. Magnesium

Considering that I have been taking several of these supplements individually for quite a long time, I really liked that I could take one daily multivitamin (2 pills) in place of several supplements.

So after taking Ritual for a month, here are my thoughts …

  1. I love that the pills are coated in peppermint oil.  Dare I say they are actually enjoyable to take?
  2. My pee doesn’t turn alien yellow from this supplement.  That may be a weird comment, but it tells me that my body is actually absorbing the B Vitamins.  After trying other supplements that made my pee look immediately radioactive, I’m excited to find a multivitamin that is bio-available and can be absorbed by my body.
  3. My nails are growing at an incredible rate and they look amazing.  I actually have to file them down to keep them from getting too long now.  I am welcoming how strong and healthy they look with Ritual.
  4. Even on the days when my sleep isn’t the best (hey, it happens), I still have energy.  Is this 100% attributable to Ritual? I don’t know for sure.  But I do know how much I normally drag all day if I don’t get enough sleep.
  5. My monthly breast tenderness has been reduced.  Again, I don’t know if this is 100% attributable to taking Ritual and I’m sure cutting down my caffeine intake has helped, but I do think the Vitamin E could be playing a role.
  6. My lips aren’t as chapped.  A deficiency of the B vitamins can cause chapped lips, so a bio-available form of the B vitamins in this multi is fabulous.
  7. I am saving money by taking one multivitamin in place of several supplements, and I’ve seen enough beneficial impacts for me to feel it’s working.  How many supplements do we take and feel absolutely no change?
  8. It shows up at my house automatically.  The convenience factor is huge.

I really have nothing negative to say about this supplement.  The only minor wish I have is that it contained more Omega-3, as I am still supplementing with my Young Living Omegagize.  However, I take extra Omega-3s to protect against high cholesterol (gotta love genetics!), so maybe it’s good that I’m getting different types of Omega-3s anyway.  Other than that, Ritual is a complete win for me and I’ll be keeping my monthly subscription.  Supplementation is a highly individual decision, but I think this is a fantastic option for women who are considering a multivitamin.

I’ve never had much success sticking to a mutivitamin, but I take these every morning as part of my self-care ritual.  They make me feel too good to skip!
