Ephesians 2:8-10

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2003. Together, we have four amazing children, by birth and adoption. When I am not homeschooling my favorite students, I spend my days on our 7-acre property where I try my best to love my family well and experiment with hobby homesteading. My favorite things to do are cultivate my ever-expanding gardens, wrangle chickens, ferment all the things, sourdough bake with einkorn flour, and figure out new ways to use herbal remedies and essential oils. I believe God has tasked us to be good stewards of our spaces in the world, and I guide my children to do the same.

I am a board member of The Sparrow Fund and an Empowered to Connect Facilitator. I love to dig in the dirt, cook nourishing food, capture beauty through my camera lens, watch the sunrise on the beach, and spend time with good literature on my porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

The big one-three

A few years back, hubby and I decided that we really wanted to celebrate big for each of our kiddos’ 13th birthdays.  It’s not typical of our birthday festivities, but we knew that we wanted to take each child on a special surprise birthday trip.  So as Angel’s 13th approached, we anticipated the date with great excitement.

Early on the morning of her 13th birthday, we woke up our beloved firstborn, and told her to pack her bags.  We then whisked her away for a surprise trip to Universal, in Orlando!  She had been talking about wanting to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter for years, so it was the perfect way to celebrate her entrance into her teen years.  We. had. so. much. fun.  If you followed along on Instagram, you know that she, hubby, and I were all smiling ear-to-ear the entire time.  I didn’t even like Harry Potter before the trip, but I loved the adventure.  In fact, I came home a Hufflepuff convert!

Those four days were incredibly magical.  Spending time with just our girl was simply priceless.  We’re still talking about our time together, and I know we created such treasured memories that we’ll remember for years to come.  Happy 13th birthday, my girl!  We love you so very much!
