Faith over fear.

Ephesians 2:8-10

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2003. Together, we have four amazing children, by birth and adoption. When I am not homeschooling my favorite students, I spend my days on our 7-acre property where I try my best to love my family well and experiment with hobby homesteading. My favorite things to do are cultivate my ever-expanding gardens, wrangle chickens, ferment all the things, sourdough bake with einkorn flour, and figure out new ways to use herbs and essential oils. I believe God has tasked us to be good stewards of our spaces in the world, and I guide my children to do the same.

I am a board member of The Sparrow Fund and an Empowered to Connect Facilitator. I love to dig in the dirt, cook nourishing food, capture beauty through my camera lens, watch the sunrise on the beach, and spend time with good literature on my porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

Six and three!

November is a big month for this little guy!  Not only did he celebrate his sixth birthday on November 4th, we also celebrated three years as a forever family with him today!  I am so incredibly thankful for this boy, and I simply cannot imagine our family without our sweet Dumpling!

He brings so much joy and loads of contagious laughter to our lives.  He absolutely adores life and approaches every new experience with wonder.  Truly, seeing life through his eyes is an immeasurable gift.  He is compassionate and loves people unconditionally.  He shows mercy and forgives quickly.  He lights up every room and easily wins over everyone he comes in contact with.  He teaches me daily about love and grace and mercy and redemption.

He has come so far in his short three years with us, and this past year was a time of huge growth for him!  His verbal skills have progressed exponentially!  He can be difficult to understand sometimes, but he puts forth so much effort and tries so hard to make himself heard.  More and more people comment about how much more understandable he is!

He now puts 5+ words together spontaneously to make sentences.  This is a HUGE praise for our boy!  He has progressed immensely with school skills as well, and is working on modified pre-k/kindergarten work.  He loves to learn and always asks for more school work.  He is progressing steadily at his own pace and I couldn’t be more proud of him.

He still has catching up to do academically and cognitively, but oh my, he has come so incredibly far.  I always stand in awe as I watch him achieve new skills and overcome greater obstacles.  We celebrate every new victory as they come.  Because he is amazing and so very worthy.  I know he is exactly where he is supposed to be and I love watching his story unfold.

Getting to walk alongside him is such an amazing honor.  He is a super special kid who is destined to do great things.  I am so thankful God chose us to be his family.  We get to be the ones to help him grow and watch him become all that he will be.  That is a pretty cool thing.

I am so proud to be his mama and cannot wait to see what life has in store for him!  Happy 6th birthday and three years as a forever family to my precious, beloved son!  He is so worthy and so very loved!
