Faith over fear.

Ephesians 2:8-10

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2003. Together, we have four amazing children, by birth and adoption. When I am not homeschooling my favorite students, I spend my days on our 7-acre property where I try my best to love my family well and experiment with hobby homesteading. My favorite things to do are cultivate my ever-expanding gardens, wrangle chickens, ferment all the things, sourdough bake with einkorn flour, and figure out new ways to use herbs and essential oils. I believe God has tasked us to be good stewards of our spaces in the world, and I guide my children to do the same.

I am a board member of The Sparrow Fund and an Empowered to Connect Facilitator. I love to dig in the dirt, cook nourishing food, capture beauty through my camera lens, watch the sunrise on the beach, and spend time with good literature on my porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

Sugar & Spice and SIX!

This precious girl celebrates her SIXTH birthday today!  She is blossoming into a beautiful young lady and I have the privilege of walking alongside her in this journey of life.  She truly is a ray of sunshine and I get to be her mama.  Me!  I really don’t know what I’d do without this beautiful soul in my life!  God knew we needed each other, and He was absolutely right.  She has taught me so much about life, about how to be a mama, and about unconditional love.  She has taught me that love must sometimes be fought for, and it is most certainly worth the battle.

Each year that passes makes me fall even more in love with her.  I wasn’t sure that was even possible, but it continues to be true with every day I get to be her mama.  She is a super cool, fun little person who I truly enjoy spending time with.  I thank God for her every night as I tuck her into bed!  What a gift she is to me, our family, and anyone who has the privilege to know her!  I don’t know what her life’s journey has in store, but I feel pretty darn lucky to hold her hand through it.

This past year has been filled with many accomplishments for her, including learning how to read!  I am amazed at how easily she picked it up, she’s been a total natural!  She loves to be read to also, especially anything from the Magic Treehouse series.  She has gained more confidence with public speaking while delivering weekly presentations at our homeschool group.  She is a creative artist, and continues to make beautiful projects for everyone.  She also really enjoys practicing her handwriting by copying letters, words, and sentences from anywhere she can find them.  She has made some new friends this year, and has formed a closer bond with her younger brother.  Of course, she also loves to be a part of whatever the big kids are doing too, especially outside on the property!  It’s been such a pleasure to watch her grow and change this year.  I’m so thankful for her!  Happy sixth birthday, my baby girl!
