Every day truly is a gift with this sweet, old soul. She’s 14 years old, well outdoing her “expected” lifespan of 8-10 years. If she stays with us a bit longer, she’ll turn 15 on the 15th anniversary of 9/11. She isn’t very active these days, but her perky, feisty side still shows occasionally. Mostly she just lays near wherever we are. She’s always there, always waiting for some love, and always happy to rest her precious head on our laps. We all love her so dearly, and treasure each passing day with her. Our family is so blessed by her companionship.
When I spied her outside in the front yard earlier today as she soaked in the beautiful weather, I grabbed my camera to capture the moment. I couldn’t get her to look at me to save my life. But fortunately, I got lucky with a passing car on the road behind me to catch her stare. I can’t even tell she’s not looking at me. Score.
