Faith over fear.

Ephesians 2:8-10

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2003. Together, we have four amazing children, by birth and adoption. When I am not homeschooling my favorite students, I spend my days on our 7-acre property where I try my best to love my family well and experiment with hobby homesteading. My favorite things to do are cultivate my ever-expanding gardens, wrangle chickens, ferment all the things, sourdough bake with einkorn flour, and figure out new ways to use herbal remedies and essential oils. I believe God has tasked us to be good stewards of our spaces in the world, and I guide my children to do the same.

I am a board member of The Sparrow Fund and an Empowered to Connect Facilitator. I love to dig in the dirt, cook nourishing food, capture beauty through my camera lens, watch the sunrise on the beach, and spend time with good literature on my porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

The budding guitarist

He’s been waiting for months to start guitar lessons, ever since he told us he wanted to be “up on stage at church.”  We asked what kind of instrument he wanted to learn, and he quickly settled on guitar.  I was elated because we don’t have a guitarist in the family, and I just love a song played on guitar.  I searched to find a guitar teacher and happened upon one who also teaches piano, which was perfect because the girls both wanted to take piano lessons.  They will also be learning music theory, which I am a huge proponent of.   I take it for granted that DH and I both know how to read music, and I really want our kids to learn too.

It’s a bit of a drive to the city, but we go to music lessons right after meeting with our Chinese tutor who is also in the city.  I’m still trying to work out the kinks of driving time, but I think I’ll be good to go for next week.  Lovebug is thrilled with his guitar lessons so far and he really likes his teacher!  We are all looking forward to hearing him play some laid back Jack Johnson for us, so we can reminisce about our lazy summer days!  I’m so proud of him for voicing his desire to do this and can’t wait to watch him grow!
