On Saturday, we took a day trip to the beautiful place I used to camp as a kid in the Appalachian Mountains. I really meant to bring my real camera, but I didn’t remember I had left it at home until we were about 30 minutes into the trip. Oh well, iPhone to the rescue!
The camp was exactly as I remembered, except maybe a little smaller. It had been about 25 years since my last visit, so some things had changed. But overall, it was still the same spectacular mountain getaway. The views are simply magnificent. We battled the wind through our picnic lunch, and then took a nice hike down the mountain. The kids were pretty well done after that, so we headed home.
I had been wanting to get there for years but it’s usually difficult with my work schedule. Because I am taking an extended break though, Saturdays are more freed up to do fun family dates like this. I gotta say, it’s SO NICE to have some time together like this! It was definitely a successful day and I’m looking forward to many more like it.
