Faith over fear.

Ephesians 2:8-10

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2003. Together, we have four amazing children, by birth and adoption. When I am not homeschooling my favorite students, I spend my days on our 7-acre property where I try my best to love my family well and experiment with hobby homesteading. My favorite things to do are cultivate my ever-expanding gardens, wrangle chickens, ferment all the things, sourdough bake with einkorn flour, and figure out new ways to use herbal remedies and essential oils. I believe God has tasked us to be good stewards of our spaces in the world, and I guide my children to do the same.

I am a board member of The Sparrow Fund and an Empowered to Connect Facilitator. I love to dig in the dirt, cook nourishing food, capture beauty through my camera lens, watch the sunrise on the beach, and spend time with good literature on my porch while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

2019-2020 Curriculum Choices

It’s our 8th year, friends! I cannot believe it. What started as a “we’ll take it one year at a time” venture has morphed into a way of life for which I am truly grateful.  I absolutely adore the homeschooling lifestyle.  Though some days I selfishly wouldn’t mind if I had the house to myself,...

Rocket ships and picnics

We made our way to DC over the weekend to visit one of our favorites – the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.  We’ve been studying astronomy this year in science, so it was the perfect field trip to help tie everything together.  Plus, we hadn’t been to DC since before Dumpling came home!  In fact,...

Another first day in the books

It’s always a little (super crazy) hectic getting out of the house on our first community day, but we did it and I didn’t even forget anything! I think today was a smashing success!  It was so wonderful to see our old friends, as well as meet and get to know new ones.  And the...

The (hopeful) homeschool schedule

This post may be better titled: The schedule with which we’ll start or The schedule to which we’ll aspire.  Hopeful also works because I believe in at least having a starting point.  If there’s one thing I’ve learned about myself though, I’m terribly fickle with an at-home schedule.  I think that’s mostly because I like...
